Questioning Is Key To Universal Church Reformation, Says Dr. Bonkuri John

USPA NEWS - Emphasising that meaningful reform in the universal Church is possible only through questioning, Dr. Bonkuri John, Founder of the Institute of Bible Technology (IBT - Hyderabad), delivered a keynote address at a one-day seminar held on Thursday at Rabbuni Church, Prakash Nagar.

Call To Rediscover Biblical Truth

He criticised personality cults and unbiblical practices, stressing that God, faith, and truth are one, as declared by the Bible. Any deviation, he said, amounts to heresy and must be corrected through Scripture-based reform.

Jesus Set the Foundation Through Questioning

Dr. John said Jesus Himself set the precedent for reform by questioning religious authorities, noting that the Bible records Jesus engaging in questioning from the age of 12. He observed that Christ’s life demonstrated how truth emerges through inquiry rather than blind acceptance.

From Ancient Man To Modern Thought

Drawing parallels with scientific progress, he stated that humanity evolved through questioning, observation, and research. The same principle, he said, applies to spiritual growth and reform within Christianity.

Church Reformation: From Luther To Today

Referring to Martin Luther’s challenge to church authorities, Dr. John described the Protestant movement as “Church Reformation 1.0.” He said IBT has been working for the past 32 years towards “Universal Church Reformation 2.0,” despite sustained opposition.
