The Equestrian World Cup Begins in Spain

USPA NEWS - This weekend, IFEMA Madrid Horse Week (IMHW) will become the epicenter of the equestrian world, hosting the best riders and horses on the planet in a series of unforgettable events. From November 28 to December 1, IMHW will be home to the FEI Dressage World CupTM and the Longines FEI Jumping World CupTM, as well as the King’s Cup of Doma Vaquera, which will be held in its arena for the first time.
Jumping World Cup
From Friday to Sunday, the best horses and riders in the world will form perfect duos on the IMHW track. Among the participants are top 10 world figures such as Swiss Olympic medalist Steve Guerdat, British rider Ben Maher, and veteran Austrian rider Max Kühner. Additionally, competitors like Martin Fuchs, Simon Delestre, and Marcus Ehning, a three-time winner of the Madrid World Cup, will ensure a high-level show.

Spain will also have a prominent representation with Eduardo Álvarez Aznar, the number one in the national ranking, and other talented riders like Mariano Martínez Bastida, Teresa Blázquez Abascal, Jesús Garmendia, and young Sira Martínez.
Dressage World Cup
The Dressage World Cup, held between Friday and Saturday, will feature 12 riders from eight countries. The Spanish Beatriz Ferrer Salat, a participant in five Summer Olympic Games between 1996 and 2020, stands out, along with compatriots José Antonio García Mena, Alejandro Asencio Méndez, Claudio Castilla Ruiz, and Juan Antonio Jiménez Cobo. Also competing will be French rider Pauline Basquin, German rider Carina Scholz, and the promising Austrian Diana Porsche.
King’s Cup of Doma Vaquera
IMHW will be the setting for the historic King’s Cup of Doma Vaquera, featuring stars like Amador Martín López, Jonatán Peña Cordero, and Miguel Ángel García Campos. The competition will begin on Friday and culminate on Saturday afternoon, with 40 pairs competing for over €10,000 in prizes.
More Equestrian Excitement
In addition to top-level competitions, IMHW will offer traditional events such as the IFEMA Six-Bar Trophy and the Porsche Jump & Drive Trophy, produced for the first time by the DAZN channel. The Pony Turf by AON will close both days with thrilling pony races.

On Sunday, various awards will be presented, including the Air Europa Trophy for the Best Rider and the Marca Trophy for the Best Spanish Rider. Furthermore, the Madrid Horse Week award will honor notable figures such as Jaume Puntí Dachs and María Álvarez del Pontón, highlighting their contributions to endurance riding, a discipline in which Spain has become a world power.
